MEET YOUR SPEECH, FEEDING & AAC THERAPIST
Hi, I’m Sydney!
Welcome to Sound Bites! I’m a pediatric speech-language pathologist passionate about helping children in Greenwood Village and South Denver communicate with confidence, feel more comfortable at mealtimes, and find the tools they need to express themselves.
My connection to this work is personal. I experienced a speech delay as a child, so I understand how meaningful the right support can be for children and their families.
This experience guides my compassionate, family-centered approach. By listening to your concerns and learning what matters most to your family, I tailor therapy to your child’s unique strengths and goals.
Through play, everyday routines, and caregiver collaboration, I keep therapy engaging while providing practical strategies to support progress between sessions.

Frequently Asked Questions
SPEECH & AAC
-
No. Speech and language support can begin during infancy or toddlerhood. Early therapy is play-based and often focuses on helping caregivers support communication during everyday routines.
If you have concerns, an evaluation can help determine whether therapy or continued monitoring is appropriate.
-
Children develop at different rates, but delayed talking can have many causes. You do not need to wait and see if you are concerned.
A speech and language evaluation can assess how your child understands and communicates, identify their strengths and needs, and help determine the best next step.
-
Yes. Speech therapy can help children produce sounds and words more clearly and communicate with greater confidence.
I am trained in PROMPT, an approach that uses gentle touch cues to guide speech movements when appropriate for your child. I tailor therapy through play and meaningful practice to help make their words clearer.
-
No. Research shows that AAC does not prevent speech development and may support spoken language growth. AAC provides children with a reliable way to communicate while their speech and language skills continue developing. It may include gestures, pictures, communication boards, or speech-generating devices.
My training in AAC, PODD, and assistive technology helps me identify supports that fit each child’s abilities and everyday routines. The goal is meaningful communication, whether asking for help, sharing interests, expressing needs, or connecting with others.
-
PROMPT is a motor-based speech therapy approach that uses touch cues to help guide the movements needed for speech.
My specialized PROMPT training helps me evaluate each child’s motor speech skills and select individualized cues and practice strategies.
PROMPT may benefit some children with childhood apraxia of speech or other motor speech difficulties. The approach is used when appropriate based on your child’s evaluation, comfort, and communication goals.
FEEDING & SWALLOWING
-
Gagging and difficulty with textures can be related to sensory sensitivities, oral motor skills, chewing, swallowing, or previous feeding experiences.
A pediatric feeding evaluation looks at the whole child to better understand what may be making mealtimes difficult.
Sound Bites provides individualized, child-centered feeding therapy that builds comfort, safety, and confidence while respecting your child’s cues and readiness.
-
Bottle refusal, coughing, leaking milk, tiring easily, or crying during feeds may indicate challenges with positioning, flow rate, oral motor skills, swallowing, or suck-swallow-breathe coordination.
My specialized training in SOFFI informs a responsive, cue-based approach to infant feeding.
Support may include caregiver coaching, positioning, pacing, and bottle-flow recommendations, with referrals to other medical providers when appropriate.
-
Pediatric feeding therapy can support children who eat a limited variety of foods, avoid certain textures, have difficulty chewing, or experience anxiety at mealtimes.
Sound Bites uses evidence-based, child-centered strategies without pressure to build feeding skills and create positive experiences with food.
The goal is to help your child feel safer and more confident while gradually expanding the foods they can comfortably manage.
-
Yes. Babies born prematurely may need additional support developing the coordination, strength, and endurance needed for feeding.
My specialized training in SOFFI supports an individualized, cue-based approach that considers your baby’s developmental level, medical history, stability, and readiness.
Therapy may address positioning, pacing, bottle feeding, suck-swallow-breathe coordination, endurance, and caregiver confidence while collaborating with your baby’s medical team when appropriate.
-
VitalStim therapy uses neuromuscular electrical stimulation, or NMES, alongside swallowing exercises to support muscle function for children with certain swallowing difficulties.
As a VitalStim/DINES Provider, I use this training to help determine whether NMES may be appropriate as part of your child’s individualized feeding and swallowing treatment.
VitalStim is not appropriate for every child. Recommendations are based on a comprehensive evaluation, medical history, swallowing needs, and collaboration with your child’s healthcare team when needed.
